Get Garden Ready for visitors with In Bloom & Co

This year, more than ever we need to create a paradise in our gardens. Make it a relaxing place that you feel proud to bring your guests to.

Here are a few of my top tips when you get your garden ready for your visitors!

CREATING ZONES

Think of your garden as a “house” with different functional “rooms” EG Dining area, chill out area, play area

Use plants and pots to help border off your zones

It’s more rewarding to finish one zone before moving onto the next one.

PLANNING

Plan your space

What gaps do you need to fill with plants?

Consider the sun/shade aspect when planning which plants to use

Where do you need a pop of colour?

Have you “zoned” your areas into rooms?

Make a list of the plants you need

PLANTING

Check plant labels to see what conditions the plants like to be planted in.

If you are using a container, make sure it has holes in the bottom for drainage

Dig a big hole for the plant & press down hard around the plant once planted

Water plenty (especially newly planted ones)

Tip: Plant tall plants at the back and smaller at the front

DIY

Sand down and stain/seal any outdoor woodwork (tables, chairs, climbing frames, sheds) This will protect them from the elements.

Jet wash your patio area.

Does your fence or wall need a fresh lick of paint?

Is there anything that bugs you about your garden? Or perhaps doesn’t look right? Can you come up with a solution?

FINISHING TOUCHES

Plant up some pots for your outdoor table

Can you lay a lovely outdoor table setting for your guests?
